Potentiometers Shafts Guide

In order to pick the right knob for you, you need to understand the different types of potentiometer shafts so that you can ensure that it will fit your instrument.

There are three different main types of shafts: Round, D-Shaft and T18. Each one of them has a different shape and is pretty recognizable just by observing it:

Round:

  • Round and smooth surface

D-Shaft

  • Half moon shape (like a D)

T18:

  • Contains 18 "teeth" surrounding the shaft, almost like a cogwheel

Each type may have different specifications, such as material and size.

Round:

  • Size : 6.35mm
    • Metal
  • Size: 6mm
    • Metal
    • Plastic

D-Shaft:
